It’s Ramadan….and we can’t keep calm
Writer : Shireen Akhtar
A Ramadan camp was organised by Shajar on Saturday, the 18th of March, 2023. The prime intention being to introduce, encourage and boost up the spirit of Islam among the young ones.
A brief but Informative discussion was carried out about the four noteworthy caliphs of Islam ‘ Khulafa e Rashideen’. The life and Character of our great leaders were presented to the mini audience so that they can deduce the essence of Islam from them and adopt their mannerism to become a better human being. The story of the caliphs was narrated one by one by four different teachers. The session was interactive and the little ones showed great interest and enthusiasm in knowing about the elite personalities.
Khulafa e Rashideen was the core topic of discussion. Other fragments of the event included performances by the students of different islamic schools. Children came up with mind soothing recitation of a few Surahs from the Qur’an along with their meaning. A beautiful Hadith about Surah Ikhlaas was narrated. Importance of five daily prayers was told by a little girl, Masha Allah. Water cycle was discussed as one of the miracles of Allah (SWT). A mesmerising and melodious nasheed was sung by all the students.
A few games and activities were conducted at the camp. Children excited for the game of treasure hunt and Ramadan box making activity.
For the treasure hunt game, Children were randomly divided into four groups. Each group was given a big bowl containing some chits hidden in a heap of sand. Each chit contained a valuable fact about Islam which indeed is a treasure for every momin. Children were supposed to fish out the chits and keep it safely with them . Children had a gala time finding the chits from the sand and earning the good piece of knowledge. Subhan Allah.
Children brought the materials for making the Ramadan box from their homes.Children got to work the moment they were instructed to do so. Each and everyone did their best to come up with best Ramadan box. The boxes were beautifully decorated and a slit was made in the middle for inserting coins or candies. Children were asked to put in money or candies or both throughout the month of Ramadan and by the end of the month the saved money and goodies should be distributed among the needy. The main motive of the activity was to pass on the message of compassion, empathy and brotherhood.
A simple yet interesting quiz was also organized. Each question had four option making it easy for the little ones to get to the correct answer. Most of them were aware of the right answers Alhamdulillah and the ones who were in the dark got enlightened, Masha Allah.
The best thing about the camp was that by the supreme grace of Allah (SWT) it was well organized and every detail was perfected with utter care. It should not go unsaid that the seamless effort and hard work of sister Shaheen and her team proved to be fruitful. Each muslimah worked dedicatedly for the sake of Allah. May Allah accept it from us.
The littles ones were undoubtedly cooperative and the most enthusiastic lot. The support and guidance of the parents did not go unnoticed as well.
