Zaynab Bint Jahsh
Alhamdulillah, I was blessed with an opportunity to be a guest speaker at Shajar Learning through their Mini Camp for Mini Muslims. Shajar team had graciously invited me to present my children’s picture book, Zaynab bint Jahsh: The One with the Longest Hand as a Read Aloud Workshop for children aged 4-10, on the 27th of March 2022, at 4.30 pm IST via Zoom platform.
Maa shaa Allah tabaarakAllah, it was heartwarming to see the children attend the workshop with vigor and enthusiasm. The session opened with the Shajar team welcoming us warmly and introducing me to the children. After a brief casual talk, we dove right into the read-aloud. The children were eager to listen to the story and see the pictures in the book, so much so that we read the book twice! After the read-aloud, we switched to an interactive session with the children sharing their takeaways, their reflections, and their action steps in becoming a bit more like their Mother of the Believer, Zaynab bint Jahsh radiAllahu anhu.
This short and concise picture book highlights one of the Mothers of the Believers’s unique characteristic—Zaynab bint Jahsh radiAllahu anha’s generous and charitable nature that led her to earn her title The One with the Longest Hand.
Zaynab bint Jahsh: The One with the Longest Hand is the first book in the Mothers of the Believers series. Through this book, the children will learn about one of the Mothers of the Believers’s unique character through a hadith that is presented in a story-like format with captivating pictures. The book ends with Reflection Time for the children to reflect upon and discuss with their parents/teachers, and has a QR code to access a free printable activity worksheet.
A page from this activity worksheet was sent to the registered attendees to partake in the Colouring Competition organized by Shajar. The winner would in shaa Allah receive a hard copy of the picture book Zaynab bint Jahsh: The One with the Longest Hand, provided the mailing address is within India.
As an author, student of knowledge, teacher, Qur’an Life Coach, and a mother, I strive to do my part for my community, especially the little Muslims, to connect to Islam, the Qur’an, and the Sunnah in a fun, engaging, and reflective manner, that will help them to make a lasting impact in their lives.
My sincere wishes and grateful prayers for Sr. Shaheen, the woman behind the scenes, who was there to help and guide her team at Shajar and myself before, during, and after the Read Aloud Workshop, despite her challenging times as she had just delivered her newborn. May Allah accept their intentions, efforts, and may He shower His Mercy, Forgiveness, and Blessings on the entire Shajar team and their families. Aameen.
